The truckers have been protesting since July 2019, when the Labour Party announced that they would be introducing a new tax on diesel vehicles.

There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the truckers’ protests, which have been going on since July 2019. It all started when the Labour Party announced that they would be introducing a new tax on diesel vehicles. The plan was to charge drivers £25 for every gram of CO2 their vehicle emitted, in an attempt to reduce air pollution and encourage people to use electric cars instead. This meant that trucks would be taxed more than cars, as trucks emit more CO2 per mile than other vehicles.

In response to this announcement, over 100 truckers parked their lorries outside Parliament and refused to move until Boris Johnson stepped down as Prime Minister. Although this protest began peacefully enough, it soon turned violent when some of the protesters began throwing eggs at police officers and police horses. They also blocked off several roads around Parliament Square and Westminster Bridge with their lorries. This led to several arrests being made by police officers.
