Carhartt, the US clothing company, is facing a backlash after releasing a range of t-shirts with slogans including “This is America” and “Keep America Great”.

Carhartt, the US clothing company, has been forced to apologise after releasing a range of t-shirts with slogans including “This is America” and “Keep America Great”. The latter has been interpreted as a pro-Donald Trump slogan by many on social media.

The range was released in the run up to Independence Day in the US. The clothing brand has since removed the offending garments from its website and issued an apology.

“We are deeply sorry,” said Carhartt WIP in a statement. “We did not mean to offend anyone with this shirt.”
