What is Live! With Kelly & Ryan?
Live! With Kelly & Ryan is an American daytime talk show hosted by television personalities Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest. It airs on ABC at 9:00 AM Eastern Time. The show premiered on September 10th, 2001 as part of a two-hour block called “Live! with Regis Philbin” alongside another talk show hosted by Regis Philbin called Live with Regis & Kathie Lee. The name was shortened to just “Live” in 2002 when Philbin left the network.
Why did Kelly Ripa leave her job?
In October 2018, it was announced that co-host Michael Strahan would be leaving his position at Good Morning America to join Entertainment Tonight as a full-time co-anchor. This left a spot open for him on Live!, which meant he could continue hosting his own talk show while also being able to work at Good Morning America during its morning hours.
Strahan joined Live! in January 2019 when he began hosting it from New York City instead of Los Angeles where GMA is filmed. This decision left both guest co-hosts (including co-hosting pair Sara Haines and Dan Harris) without jobs at GMA since there was no longer any need for them there.
