The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has ordered the makers of Juul to submit plans to address youth use of its products.

What is a Juul?
The Juul is a small, handheld e-cigarette that was first released in 2015. The device uses a vaporizer system that heats up flavored liquid called e-juice. When the liquid is heated, it produces an aerosol vapor that can be inhaled. The Juul contains nicotine salts which means that users can inhale more nicotine with less harshness than traditional e-cigarettes. In addition to the nicotine salts, there are various flavors available for users to choose from including mango, crème brûlée, cool mint and Virginia tobacco.
How does it work?
The Juul works by heating up an e-liquid cartridge inserted into the device. The cartridge contains flavored liquid with nicotine salts as well as other chemicals including glycerol and propylene glycol which help carry flavorings through vaporizer chambers.
