Why are Stanley cups so popular Why do we have Leap Year

The Boston Red Sox are wearing yellow to commemorate the victims of the September 11 attacks.

Major League Baseball has a long history of teams wearing special uniforms to commemorate important moments in US history. The Boston Red Sox will wear special uniforms during their September 11 home game against the New York Yankees, as they do every year. The uniform change is not only to honour those who died in the 9/11 attacks, but also those who lost their lives in World War II.

Why are Boston Red Sox wearing yellow?

The team has worn special uniforms on September 11 every year since 2002, when Major League Baseball made it mandatory for all teams to wear a commemorative patch on their jerseys. In previous years, some teams wore plain white or grey jerseys with no patches. It was also not unusual for teams to wear caps with patriotic colours during this time.

BOSTON RED SOX

The Red Sox have had many different uniform designs over the years and some of them have been particularly garish. They wore black and white pinstriped uniforms from 1901 until 1912, when they changed to red and navy blue striped tops with black shorts and socks. In 1917 they switched back to all red uniforms with navy blue socks and a “B” logo on their caps. They kept this design until 1951, when they switched back to black and white pinstripes before changing again in 1959 when they started wearing red shirts with navy blue shorts.
