Shraddha Srinath was found dead in her apartment on October 27th, 2021. The next day, Aftab Ahmed was charged with her murder.

The body of Shraddha Srinath, a journalist for The Guardian, was discovered in her London apartment on October 27th. The cause of death has not been officially released but many sources have speculated that she was murdered by Aftab Ahmed. Ahmed is the son of a wealthy Pakistani businessman and is currently being held in police custody for questioning about the murder.

Who is Shraddha Srinath?

Shraddha Srinath was born in India and moved to London as a teenager to study at Oxford University. She graduated from Oxford with a degree in History and went on to become an award-winning journalist for the Guardian newspaper.

What did Shraddha do?

Shraddha worked as a foreign correspondent for the Guardian, reporting on stories across Asia and Africa. She covered topics such as female genital mutilation (FGM), human trafficking and modern slavery. She also wrote extensively about terrorism and its impact on women’s rights.

How did she die?

On October 27th 2021, police were called to Shraddha’s home after neighbours reported hearing gunshots coming from her apartment building. When they arrived at the scene they found her dead inside her flat with gunshot wounds to her head and chest.

Aftab Ahmed had already fled the scene but he was arrested later that day after he called his father’s private plane company asking them to send him a plane so he could escape to Pakistan.

It’s believed that Shraddha had been working on an exposé about corruption within Aftab’s family before she died.

Although there hasn’t been any official confirmation about whether or not Aftab will be charged with murder or if it will be treated as an act of self-defence, most sources are expecting him to be charged with murder.
