The government has been accused of breaking the law by taking money from Child Benefit payments, in a move that could affect millions of families. A spokesperson for HMRC said: “Child Benefit is taxable and we are required to collect tax on it. Parents are angry after it was revealed that some families will be up to £7,000 worse off by 2022.
