The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended Sri Lanka from all international cricket with immediate effect. The suspension comes after the country failed to comply with a directive issued by the ICC Board in October, ordering an independent investigation into allegations of match-fixing and corruption in Sri Lankan cricket. In a statement released on Thursday, the ICC said it had no choice but to suspend Sri Lanka after the country’s sports minister failed to provide a written response as requested by its Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU).
In October, the ICC asked Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to appoint an independent investigator and submit a report within 90 days regarding allegations made against its players and officials in relation to alleged fixing. The request was made following an investigation carried out by Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit which alleged that at least five international matches were fixed during the 2017 season. The report also claimed that several players were involved in spot-fixing during matches involving domestic teams and that some members of staff were aware of these activities.
The ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit had asked SLC for “a written response from your government confirming their commitment to fully cooperate with this investigation”
November 11th is a special day in the United States, known as Veterans Day. Why did it change?
One year after Armistice Day became a federal holiday in 1920, Congress renamed it “War Memorial Day” to honor veterans from all wars including those who fought during World War II and other conflicts around that time period.
In 1938 Congress decided that November should be a time for Americans to honor their veterans every year instead of just once a year on November 11th so they changed its name again to “Armistice Day” which remained its official name until 1954 when President Eisenhower signed legislation officially changing it back into “Veterans’ Day” once again.
In 1968 President Johnson signed legislation designating every October 10th as National Vietnam War Veterans’ Week. Since then this week has been expanded into National Vietnam War Veteran’s Month with special ceremonies being held each year throughout October.
Jim Harbaugh has been suspended for one game by the NFL after an investigation found that he had struck an official. The incident occurred in the third quarter of a Thursday night game against the Los Angeles Rams on October 4th, where Harbaugh was seen to hit downfield official Anthony Perry. The 49ers coach was not ejected from the game at the time, but was later suspended and fined $50,000 for his actions.
It’s unclear what exactly prompted Harbaugh to hit Perry. However, it is believed that there may have been some sort of altercation between Harbaugh and Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald. Donald himself wasn’t penalized or fined for his role in whatever happened between him and Harbaugh.
“Why is Stephen A Smith suspended”
ESPN personality Stephen A Smith has been suspended by ESPN following comments made about domestic violence. Smith made a statement on ESPN2’s First Take on September 8th where he said women should be careful not to provoke men into domestic violence situations.
Stephen A Smith also said that women should “do everything in [their] power not to provoke wrong actions.” His comments drew widespread criticism online from fans and celebrities alike.

Sri Lanka has been banned from all international cricket for a year by the International Cricket Council (ICC), after its sports minister said he would not allow the country’s national team to play against Israel. The ICC have responded by suspending Sri Lanka from all international cricket, including both Test and limited-overs matches. The suspension will remain in place until October 2020, meaning that Sri Lanka is banned from playing in the ICC World T20 tournament next year. It also means that Sri Lanka will not be able to play any of their scheduled matches against Zimbabwe and South Africa this month.
Why was Sri Lanka banned?
In August 2019, Sports Minister Harin Fernando told reporters that “the government will not give permission for our national cricket team to play with Israeli players”. He made his comments while on a trip to Saudi Arabia and Qatar, which are both currently at loggerheads with Israel over a variety of issues. However, Harin Fernando did say that he would consider an exemption if it was granted by the government of Israel itself.
Why is Sri Lanka being punished?
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to punish Sri Lanka for refusing to take part in games against teams they deem as having diplomatic ties with their enemy Israel. This is despite assurances given by Sports Minister Harin Fernando that he would consider an exemption if it were granted by the Israeli government itself.
In 2022, Sri Lanka was banned from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for failing to meet the minimum standards required by the ICC. The ban meant that Sri Lanka could not play any international cricket until they met these minimum standards. The ban came into effect on June 15th, 2022 and was lifted on September 12th, 2023. This means that Sri Lanka were able to play international cricket from September 12th, 2023 onwards.

Omegle, or “omegle” for short, is a website that allows users to connect with each other through a text-only chat interface. The site was created by Israeli-American computer programmer Tom Pashby in 2009 as an alternative to Chatroulette, which had gained widespread notoriety at that point for allowing users to see random people naked on camera without their knowledge.
The biggest problem with Chatroulette (and later sites like Omegle) was that there wasn’t any way for users to control who they connected with on camera – they could be connecting with anyone at all! As such, many people took advantage of this lack of moderation and used these sites as platforms for sexual harassment or worse.
In 2010 alone, there were over 50 arrests made across the United States after men were caught using Chatroulette (and later Omegle) as part of an organized crime ring where they would pose as underage girls in order to get men from around the world on camera so they could blackmail them into sending them money.
Parents also began filing lawsuits against these websites because their children had begun spending hours upon hours chatting with strangers online instead of doing homework or hanging out with friends outside.
